About this course

Are you ready to run Windows Server 2025? These practice tests check the knowledge an administrator uses every day: choosing an edition and deploying servers, managing them with Windows Admin Center and PowerShell, Hyper-V and containers, the new security features, and the Active Directory and Group Policy work that keeps a domain running.

You get 5 practice tests with 250 questions in total (50, 50, 50, 50, 50). Every question was checked twice before release: once by the author against the official documentation, and once by an independent reviewer who answered it blind - any disagreement was settled with a source.

What makes the explanations useful

Each answer tells you why the right option is right and why each wrong option is wrong. The wrong options are real features, commands and settings that are easy to pick by mistake - that is where most of the learning is.

How the tests are built

  • Practice Test 1: Editions, Deployment and Server Management: editions and core-based licensing, hardware requirements, upgrade paths, activation, Sysprep, Server Core, Windows Admin Center, PowerShell 7 and DSC.
  • Practice Test 2: Hyper-V, Containers and Platform Security: Hyper-V and virtual switches, VM generations, nested virtualization, PowerShell Direct, containers, hotpatching and SMB security.
  • Practice Test 3: Active Directory Domain Services Infrastructure: schema and FSMO roles, functional levels, 32K database pages, RODCs, global catalog, forest trusts, replication, SYSVOL and DCDiag.
  • Practice Test 4: Users, Groups and Group Policy: user accounts, templates and profiles, group scopes, protected groups and AdminSDHolder, GPO processing, filtering, troubleshooting and preferences.
  • Practice Test 5: Full Mock Exam: a mixed exam across all four areas - take it last, in one sitting.

Questions use single-answer and multiple-answer formats; the number of answers to pick is always stated. Suggested time: 75 minutes per test.

Versions: Windows Server 2025 (Standard, Datacenter and Datacenter: Azure Edition; Active Directory Domain Services with the 2025 functional level and 32K database pages, Group Policy, Hyper-V, containers, hotpatching, SMB over QUIC), Windows Admin Center, PowerShell 7, as of October 2026.

Please note: these are original practice questions written by an instructor. This course is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft; Windows Server, Active Directory and Hyper-V are Microsoft trademarks.

What you'll learn

  • Check your Windows Server 2025 administration knowledge across five tests
  • Find your weak areas - each test covers one area of the job
  • Learn why each wrong option is wrong, not just which option is right
  • Revise what is new in Windows Server 2025: hotpatching, SMB security, 32K database pages
  • Practise under time pressure with a full mixed mock exam

Before you begin

  • Basic Windows Server administration experience (or a lab you are building)
  • No lab is needed to take the tests

Who this is for

  • Windows Server administrators moving to Windows Server 2025
  • IT support engineers moving up to server and Active Directory administration
  • Students of Windows Server 2025 courses who want to test what they learned
