About this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

ISO 9001:2026 was published in September 2026, and ISO 19011, the guidance on auditing, was revised in May 2026. If you audit your own organization's quality management system, both changes reach your desk. This course shows you how to plan, conduct and report internal audits against the 2026 edition, from the first programme to management review.

Built for internal audits, not certification audits. Most auditor courses are written from the certification body's chair. This one is written from inside the organization. We audit colleagues, we keep our impartiality without an outside badge, and we classify findings as nonconformities, opportunities for improvement or positive practice, never as major or minor.

Written from the published text. Every requirement in this course was checked against the published 2026 edition. We name the myths that still circulate on checklists, such as AI validation, a new records duty or annual audits of every process, and we keep them off yours.

What the course covers

  • What clause 9.2 requires in 2026, including the new objectives for each audit
  • The seven audit principles, and independence when you audit your own organization
  • A risk-based audit programme that covers every process, with stated objectives, criteria and scope
  • Process-based planning with audit trails, document review in the new "available as" wording, and a 2026 checklist of probe questions
  • Opening meetings, interviews with colleagues and senior managers, sampling, objective evidence, and auditing quality culture without inventing requirements
  • Writing nonconformities, reporting to relevant managers, verifying corrective action, and feeding management review

One company, one full audit cycle. We join the internal audit pool of Meridia Precision Tools, a manufacturer with three plants in three countries. A certification body found that its first internal audits had missed key processes. We build the new programme, run the audits, write the findings and close the loop at management review.

What you get

  • 30 short video lectures with captions, about three hours in total
  • Seven section quizzes and a 35-question practice test with explanations
  • Three assignments with worked solutions, set in a second company: a programme, an evidence log, and a full set of findings and a report
  • Eleven templates in Word and Excel, each with a filled example: programme, audit brief, plan, probe questions, evidence log, nonconformity report, audit report, follow-up log and more

What this course is not. It does not cover certification audits, Stage 1 and Stage 2, audit-time rules or accreditation. It does not reproduce the text of the standards. We cite clause numbers and explain each requirement in our own words, so a copy of ISO 9001:2026 is useful next to the lectures.

By the end, you can build an internal audit programme, run an audit with colleagues, write findings that hold up, and give top management results it can act on.

What you'll learn

  • Explain what clause 9.2 of ISO 9001:2026 requires, and what the new objectives for each audit mean
  • Apply the audit principles and keep independence when auditing your own colleagues
  • Build a risk-based internal audit programme that covers every process
  • Write audit objectives, criteria and scope that fit together
  • Plan audits as process trails, and build a 2026 checklist without the myths
  • Interview colleagues, sample records and turn statements into objective evidence
  • Write clear nonconformities and classify findings without major or minor grading
  • Verify corrective action and feed audit results into management review

Before you begin

  • Basic familiarity with ISO 9001 or experience working in a certified quality management system
  • No previous audit experience is needed
  • A copy of ISO 9001:2026 is useful but not required

Who this is for

  • New internal auditors joining an ISO 9001 audit programme
  • Experienced internal auditors trained on the 2015 edition or ISO 19011:2018
  • Quality managers and coordinators who run the internal audit programme
  • Process owners and engineers asked to audit other departments or sites
  • Small-business quality leads who need impartial audits with few people
